To celebrate the return of spring (said with a wry smile here in the North Country) we made our now annual drive out to nearby Castorland for the maple syrup harvest. While there we met up with several friends including Brenda, Olivia and Lillian King who discovered this place with us last year. The day was a bit chill and the sap wasn't running.
Good thing for us that the previous day had been warmer with a much better collection so we were able to actually watch them boil down the sap, filter it and pour it into those adorable jugs....
....and buy some fresh hot syrup. As Lolo and Olivia discovered, those hot jugs provide a great way to warm up cold hands and faces on chilly spring days. The maple cotton c
